Skip Hop Recalls Convertible High Chairs Due to Fall Hazard, According to CPSC

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of the Convertible High Chair by Skip Hop because of a possible fall hazard. If you own a Skip Hop convertible high chair, check to see if your chair was recalled before using it again.

If your child was injured when the legs of the Skip Hop convertible high chair collapsed or broke off, your child may be entitled to compensation for his or her injuries and medical expenses.

Description of the Recall

According to the CPSC, this recall involves the charcoal colored Tuo convertible high chair, which can be converted into a toddler chair. The style numbers are 304200 and 304200CN with a date code found on the back of the chair as follows: HH102016, HH11/2016, HH3/2017 and HH4/2017. The highchairs have a reversible seat pad, removable tray, 5-point harness, beechwood footrest and legs

The CPSC advised that consumers should immediately stop using the recalled high chairs and contact Skip Hop for a free replacement.

Multiple Reported Injuries and Incidents

Skip Hop has received 13 reports of the legs of the high chairs detaching, resulting in two reports of bruises to children. These are just the reported incidents. It is unknown from the CPSC's recall information whether there have been other incidents which were not reported.

If your child was injured by this alleged defective product, the law may entitle both you and your child to compensation for things like pain and suffering, medical expenses and other possible damages.

Where is the Skip Hop chair sold?

According to the CPSC, the recalled chair was sold at Babies ”R” Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target, Kohls, Dillards and other children specialty stores nationwide and online at and from December 2016 through September 2017 for about $160.

Florida Product Liability Law

Under Florida's Product Liability Law, if your child was injured as a result of a fall from the Skip Hop chair, Skip Hop may be strictly liable for all injuries as a result of the fall. Try to preserve the chair and take photographs of the chair and any visible injuries.
